Registration for the Fall Season will open September 1

The Gretna Basketball Association strives to provide opportunities for personal growth and development of youth athletes while promoting positive influences, confidence and the desire to excel on and off the court. The GBA is dedicated to educate and motivate each participant while encouraging teamwork, sportsmanship and fun through the spirit of basketball competition.

The GBA Fundamental League is for K - 4th Grade Gretna Public Schools students, and other children is these grades who live within the Gretna School District.  Our K - 2nd grade league is our introductory program designed to introduce players to the rules of the game and begin fundamental skill development.  The 3rd through 4th grade program is a recreational program designed for players who are new or continuing to develop their basic basketball skills, as well as those who may not have the time to participate in the Select or Club programs due to participation in other activities.  Players in 5th & 6th grade interested in basketball at the Fundamental level are encouraged to registered with the Gretna Cross YMCA's recreational basketball league.

The League has two seasons, Fall and Winter.  The Fall season runs from late October to December and the Winter session runs from mid-January to the end of February.  Each season is comprised of 6 sessions, taking place on Saturdays at local Gretna schools.  Each session begins with a 20 minute practice followed by a game.  1st and 2nd graders will complete the practice and game in 60 minutes with 3rd through 4th graders completing the practice and game in 75 minutes.  

The Fall and Winter seasons are separate registrations and players can registerer for either or both seasons.
